Default e-TV EPG mess.

I am starting this thread as a general one to report problems with the e-TV channels.

This weekend had it own batch of EPG problems with e-TV channels 194 and 195.

There is a series called Unusual Suspects, labelled Season 5 playing out on both channels.

On ch 194, the episodes are labeled as S5/05 with a specific name for the episode, (Phantom Predator), which labelled S5/6 (Phantom Predator) on 195. and so on. All the episodes in this series are out of step with each other.

Mayday Air Disaster has started Season 3 on Mondays before Season 2 has completed. And no it is not one episode overlap, but about 4...

Then lastly, all the detail for next Monday is missing with shows all showing "No addition information available"

Wonder if its because the staff that used to do this for the SABC are now all working for e-TV? .......

Quite often I've found eTV movies starting too early recently.
An example is The Chaos Factor on 140 last night - scheduled to start @ 21:41, it actually began 2 minutes before the mark on my Explora's Status Bar.

Which of their channels do it and any further examples I can't add, haven't paid much attention to it as it hasn't been a practical problem for me yet. I'm not planning to report any more.
I think 194 is usually ok. We hardly use 195, but 138 may need to be monitored as well.

It's not only eTV channels related.
Another example (sorry if this should more ideally have gone in its own thread):
Meet The Humans S01E03 on 184 BBC Earth - repeat scheduled for 01:57 this morning, started a minute early.

Late I can understand to some degree, but early......
What is going on with all these channels??!

The "No addition information available" message on day 8 on the epg for older PVR's is discussed here: http://forum.dstv.com/showthread.php?t=38970
and isn't unique to e-tv.

Not just day 8 and not just older PVRs, last checked on my Explora there's nothing for 140 on Sat., Sun., Mon. or Tue.
As explained there, it's due to a lack of info / accuracy from that channel.

Or maybe you're talking about the technical delay with the EPG generally sometimes when looking at the later days, on the Explora usually doesn't seem to happen much and just for short periods.

In this specific instance, over the weekend it was specifically the e-TV channel info that was missing on my UEC HD PVR 4 tuner.

Confirm. My daughter's Explora and HD PVR 2P showed the same issue.

While we're at it, all the e-TV movie channels where content is flagged as HD that is not HD.

And while we're on this, I'm finding it difficult to tell the difference sometimes.
What often appears HD-ish in quality can be confused by involved plain backgrounds that look like a watercolour painting - methinks they're using an odd compression method.

Hi, Geoff D,

Just to provide some feedback on this issue:

"There is a series called Unusual Suspects, labelled Season 5 playing out on both channels.

On ch 194, the episodes are labeled as S5/05 with a specific name for the episode, (Phantom Predator), which labelled S5/6 (Phantom Predator) on 195. and so on. All the episodes in this series are out of step with each other."

Basically, what occurred here is: we receive the schedules in two different formats for the channels. One of them was labelled as S5/E06 (Phantom Predator) and the other as S5/E05 (Phantom Predator). This is where the confusion originated, and we've asked the editors to double-check the running order of this show with the channels. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

We're following up with the channel for Mayday Air Disaster to see where the issue lies.

Hi, Optimist,

With regards to BBC Earth, that was the latest time provided by the channel. They usually provide up-to-the-minute logs prior to transmission, which are normally spot-on, so this seems like an exception to the rule here. Do you perhaps have safety net times for your recordings? This might help, unless you had back-to-back recording. Nonetheless, we do apologise for any inconvenience caused. The programme will be repeated again on
Fri 30/6, 9.29pm, BBC Earth in case you wish to watch it again.
