Default How useful is a signal strength meter?

I see these at my local hardware (ELSAT MSK 950-2250MHz)
Are they useful for aligning one's dish?

Pretty good for occasional use and very popular with campers and caravaners.

Not really suitable for installers to use where one is expected to be able to show better performance and actual quality measurements.

Requires patience when using.

agree its a for personal use ,not recommened or advised for professionals installing Dishes.acrreditted installers must have a proper field strength meter when installing. its part of the accreditation to have a proper meter.

Having said that, used properly, you will get the same results that an installer using his FSM will get, it will just take longer.

Remember, it is not the FSM or the meter that does the job, it is the person doing the install that ultimately determines the signal quality.
