Default Some channel changes - ED, Ignition, Rhema

There are a few changes taking place tomorrow (13 May) to some of the channels on DStv:
  • Channel ED will move to channel 190 (from channel 319), to add it to the other documentary and lifestyle channels
  • Rhema (channel 343) and Ignition (channel 189) will move to a new transponder on our satellite. The channel numbers will NOT change but if you watch these channels, please check that your reminder and recordings for these channels are still in place, if you added it under Favourite or Blocked channels that it is still the case or if you have PG settings set.

Not that it matters but ED is currently channel 318, not 319

But it does ---- as anything that changes the channel numbering could negativley impact on scheduled recordings.

the SD PVR is rather notorious for getting its nickers in a knot with channel changes and the effect this has on recordings.

A move to another transponder, means a change to the NIT and other tables in the decoder and that may well affect the reference used by a recording setting.

Isn’t Ignition and BDTV technically the same channel, can they exist on separate transponders?

What does BDTV have to do with this?

Ignition and Rhema are both channels that only play on the weekends.

Ignition and BDTV appear to be one channel broadcasting in separate slots at different times, creating the impression of them being two separate channels when they are actually just one channel, just like GO and K-world used to be, just like DW and Pro7 are right now on the German Bouquet.

Even though they occupy the same channel number, it is not one channel - they are two separate channels from two different channel providers. So the transponder change only applies to Ignition, NOT BDTV. It is just because BDTV doesn't broadcast on the weekend, that they can share the same number.
