Following the SuperSport Olymics coverage announced earlier on (see: http://forum.dstv.com/showthread.php...013#post126013), please see below some quick key facts:


Build up to London 2012
• 7 June – Team Announcement, SuperSport Blitz / 50-day countdown starts
• 2-26 July – Olympic Countdown studio show
• June/July – throughout - Olympic Memories and Olympic Dreams, featuring Olympic vignettes with famous winners and medal aspirants


SuperSport Channels
• 27 July – 8 24-hour channels launch: 4 SD and 4 HD *1 new HD for Olympics
o SD Channels: SS4 (Gold), SS5 (Silver), SS6 (Bronze), SS7 (Spirit)
o HD Channels: SSHD2 (Gold), SSHD3 (Silver), SSHD4 (Bronze), SSHD5 (Spirit)
o SS3 – will feature football on certain days
• The popular Blitz channel will provide rolling coverage and live updates


Other DStv Channels
• KykNET (channel 111) - Toks ‘n Tjops will be reborn for Olympics
• Magic World (channel 112) - daily 2-hour highlights package during Olympics from 6-8 am


Special Programmes
• London Calling will be broadcast on weekends (8a-9.30am), with an additional show on Women’s Day (August 9).
• Mind the Gap will be a daily 15-minute show hosted by Neil Andrews and former Olympic football champion Daniel Amokachi. This will be broadcast daily before and after the Olympic evening sessions.


Alternative Platforms
• DStv Mobile: SS1, SS2, SS3 and SS4 (Gold) available
• Live streaming of SS4 (Gold) channel daily from 9am during the Olympics.
• DStv On Demand on PVRs : highlights from the three sessions daily, plus the opening and closing ceremonies. Olympic Memories and Olympic Dreams, plus daily Olympic updates and Mind the Gap


New Media
• SuperSport.com will have a dedicated Olympic section from June onwards – on web, mobile and as an app.
• SuperSport Facebook and twitter will link to Olympic videos, retweets, current news - #ssolympics
• SuperFan social interaction driven on broadcast shows from 4 July


Broadcast schedules
• These will be available on all the places where DStv schedules are available – DStv.com, mobi sites, iPhone and Android apps, and on decoders. Printable schedules are also available on DStv.com.
• There are 3 Olympic sessions daily – morning, afternoon and evening. The broadcasts will be structured around these sessions.


Paralympics
• 29 Aug – 9 Sept: SS6 will broadcast every day, with emphasis on African and SA contestants
• 6-11pm daily: finals with live coverage and day’s best moments
