The film "Scenes of a Sexual Nature", airing on MM1 (ch. 103) today, 2008/12/02, from 10h15 to 11h45, appears to have a censored soundtrack on BOTH the "original" and "family" audio channels. I observed this on a couple-of-months-old DSD 1100(+2).

From the multitude of reports of soundtrack errors (if indeed they ARE genuine errors) on the old and new fora it is apparent that there is a systemic issue.

I was watching the movie "Across The Universe" on MM1 last night and noticed that the soundtrack was censored. Looked to make certain that my decoder was set to "Original Soundtrack" which it was but still received censored version. Also tried changing to "Family Soundtrack" but also without any success. So it would appear as if Multichoice are doing their own censorship. WHY?

It's an ongoing issue that's been around for a while: see the thread in the new forum at

following on from the thread in the old forum at

I think we need to keep logging the problems, as once the scale thereof is clear we might see some action.

Hi,
I've not really used my DStv decoder for a couple of months, until this December. However, I've recently noticed that my DSD 1110 (+2) does not adhere to my preset language options. I prefer to listen to "English - Original" whenever possible, but even with this set, I'm still getting the "English/Family" soundtrack.

Since there's no kids in my house, hearing those unnecessary blank spots on the soundtrack is really annoying.

Currently, this is most notable on MM1(103), MM2(104) and ActionX(106). I don't know whether I'm having the problem on M-Net(101). I know that some of the M-Net peripheral channels like MHol(198) do not support the dual soundtrack. And that none of the foreign movie channels like SET(113) OR Hallmark(108) support it either, since the broadcast of the latter isn't in DStv's control.

My sports channels are totally fine. Listening to the Aus vs SA cricket commentary on SS2(202) does switch between the Australian and South African commentaries.

So my question is this...

Did DStv put a blanket rule on the original language soundtrack on movies for the holidays (since most children are likely to be at home most of the time)?

Or, is someone at DStv not plugging the soundtrack correctly, or perhaps, not at all?

Is there something wrong with my DSD software, or perhaps even to my decoder?

I also wonder whether I'm the only person with the problem ^^

Any suggestions are welcome.

Ta,

These 2 threads, in particular, will give you an idea of the utter frustration that M-Net censorship has caused during the past few months (click on links):

Hi Guys,

I have requested relevant people (at Multichoice) to investigate and resolve this problem.

Kindest regards
